Work Safe; Stay Safe

Each day in Canada over 40 young workers are injured on the job (CCOHS). Initiated by Dr. Frances Tuer, the DeGroote School of Business is pleased to offer at no charge this set of Work Safe problem-solving cases to help reduce the number of near-misses, workplace injuries, and unfortunate fatalities. The cases presented on this website were prepared by DeGroote Commerce students and cover a variety of workplace injuries and illnesses. Each case study is based on actual incidents suffered by the student or someone they know.

If you hire young workers, provide safety training, or are otherwise involved in ensuring workplace safety, please download the case(s) that are most relevant to your organization. Each case is accompanied by a Facilitation Guide, which gives ideas on how to open the discussion, potential exercises/activities, and additional discussion questions (if desired). Documents are provided in MS Word format, so you can customize to your organization and/or the relevant legislation of the jurisdiction(s) in which you operate.

At the DeGroote School of Business, our motto is Education with Purpose. Through these case studies we want to take our education in Occupational Health and Safety to the communities in which we live, and beyond, to make a difference in worker health and safety.

If you have any questions about this initiative feel free to contact Dr. Frances Tuer.
